APW VIII - Attraction Sessions!

Yesterday, I hosted another one of our Aspiring Photographer Workshops (APW) and it was AWESOME! There was a much larger than expected turnout and we had two incredibly beautiful and super fun couples modeling for us! After doing some introductions, we just went all around the area and took probably thousands of photos combined! Special thanks to our amazing models for doing whatever I asked them to do in front of so many strangers!

I've known Bethany for a long time. You may recognize her from one of these many sessions (notice how my blog posts/style have changed over the years!): August 2007, June 2008 and January 2009. She and her family have been one of my best clients turned friends and when she asked me to photograph her wedding, I felt like it was my kid sister getting married! Bethany and Jason had a exquisitely planned celebration that fit their personalities perfectly!

Idea coming to Reality

Sometimes, I'll have these ideas of what I want to do photographically and and they are full blown epic disasters. Sometimes though, I'll conceptualize a shot and it just works. Well, thanks to the trust of my awesome clients, the Olsen Family, they agreed to do whatever I asked of them and I LOVE the result! For me, you can only do so much technically as a photographer, the other parts to a successful photograph are your ability to connect to your clients AND having amazing clients! =) Lesson of the day is experiment, challenge yourself and have fun!

I was standing on one of their dining room table chairs and reached out my arm as far as I could (and if you've met me, you know that that is not very far) to take this shot. We went through a couple of different variations, but this one was by far my favorite!

For all of you photographers out there, here were my settings:

$1,496.82!!!

Photography for a Cause 2010 has officially ended and once again, Brandi and I thank you all for your incredible support, encouragement and love! In total, we raised $1,496.82 to be evenly donated to Shepherd's Crossing in Manhattan, KS and the FDNY's Family Assistance Unit in NYC! Can you believe it! Just a few days ago, we were worried about raising $500! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

With La Brisa Photography, one of my main goals has always been giving back and you all have helped me give back in a HUGE way!!! Thank you to everyone who shared the love with all of friends friends on Facebook, emails, word of mouth, etc! You ROCK!

I am still in disbelief over the final amount! I hope that you all love your prints and I am incredibly humbled and appreciative from the results of Photography for a Cause 2010! =)
