RIP Maxie

Sadly, we lost a member of our extended family today. In a tragic accident, he is now on to bigger and better things in doggy heaven. He loved attention and sitting up on the couches when nobody was looking. His best friend was his cat brother, Copper. He leaves behind many loved ones and friends. Things will definitely not be the same without the little guy. Life can be so humbling and we just appreciate all the joy that he brought us. Maxie, we love you and we will miss you dearly everyday. Godspeed.

Week 3: My Hometown

This is the overlook from my favorite spot in Manhattan, Kansas. Top of the World Park is an awesome place to take your dogs, go for a walk or just hang out. With a beautiful 360 degree view, you can see for miles around and although it doesn't really show Manhattan, this image represents what I love about the Midwest. The weather, the openness and the gorgeous cloud formations that I've never seen anywhere else!

Lauren - Style Session

Lauren is an aspiring model and so we helped each other out to improve our portfolios. Fun, energetic student who has a passion for horses and agriculture journalism. She hopes to one day model for equestrian catalogs and the like! We had a great time roaming around the Pillsbury Crossing area! Can't wait to work with her again!

Week 2: Introduce Yourself

A few of my fellow photographers and I are working through a photo project called 52 Weeks of Awesomeness. For Week 2, the title is introduce yourself and I wanted to introduce myself by showing what I believe is the number one thing in capturing great people photography. You can read and learn so much about a person based on the expression of their eyes. For supermodels, this is how they earn the big bucks and the status. For professional athletes, this is what gives them the initimidating edge over their opponents. For petowners, this is how you command obedience. And for photographers, this is what makes or breaks a photograph. Due to my squinty eyes, I'm not able to to truly convey my point, but my picture (thanks to some help from my lovely wife) hopefully provides a glimpse of what I want to portray.

Richert Family - Joy Session

Can't say enough about this family. Amazing inspiration and role models on how to live life to its fullest and how to effectively roll with the punches. 6 week old Maddox is gorgeous and I am ecstatic that he is so privileged to be raised under the guidance and watchful eyes of his parents. These are the type of parents that you hope that they have more kids because you know that their kids will truly make a difference.

52 Weeks of Awesomeness

My good friend and photographer Erica, of ericamay.com, and I have started a photo project entitled "52 Weeks of Awesomeness" in order to spur our photographic creativity and to encourage each other to push our abilities each and every week!

The topic of the first week is a free for all and so I wanted to showcase one of the things that really surprised me about living in Manhattan, Kansas...the music scene. There are an unbelievable amount of extremely talented, undiscovered and hard working local bands in this town that never cease to amaze me. This is a picture of 2/5ths of the Liars Of Local Interest. Check out their website http://www.liarslocal.com/index1.html. They are a fun group with a distinctive and unique sound and they always look like they are having a blast whether they are playing in front of 5 or 100s of people!
Their next performance is Jan 19th @ 10pm @ Pat's Blue Ribbon!
