T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter in Manhattan, KS
autumn, b and I are all pet lovers. And we have adopted our own canine children from organizations similar to T. Russell Reitz Animal shelter. We have such huge hearts for the well being of four legged children and we have truly respect the efforts of this organization with very limited funding. Our hope is to help provide more food, medicine and supplies for all of the soon-to-be-adopted pets!
Be The Match
Cancer effects everyone. Recently, my wife lost her dear friend and mentor, Dr. Jim Volgamott, to leukemia. We hope our donation will assist in adding more potential donors to the Be The Match Registry. Help us support and spread the word about bone marrow transplant because it simply saves lives.

The C Family | Joy Session | Hawaii | b
Someday, I would love to have children and when they come, I want to do it well and I want to do it right. While growing up, one of the most important concepts my parents instilled in me was that it is best to be who I am. I will admit, I preach this concept so much more willingly than I practice it. However, I want my future children to know that they are allowed to let their freak flags fly, they are allowed to like football instead of barbies or math instead of football. That they can stick up for themselves and others when being judged or picked on.
Whoa. Let’s back up and get to the real reason I am divulging such an obscure message compared to other posts. I had the pleasure of photographing one of the most phenomenal women I have ever met. She had turquoise hair(usually pink), an impeccable sense of humor, heart shaped shades and three children under the age of five. Since our shoot, I have been following her blog and am incredibly impressed by the message she delivers daily. Through struggles and joys it is best to be true to yourself. It is best to just be. From the tiny glimpse of how she allows her life to unfold, I can only aspire to be as carefree yet poignant as she.
I could have written about how great her kids were (they were awesome), or how fun the beach was (it was awesome), or even how happy I am with how it went (I am awesome) but meeting the C Family struck a chord that needed to be struck.

Weekend Update!
I recently returned from an absolutely amazing weekend at the birthplace of La Brisa Photography, Manhattan, KS! With so many things going on, I just wanted to quickly update you on my weekend events!
After arriving in Kansas City on Friday, I met up with Katie and Bryce for their super fun Attraction Session!
Then I drove to Manhattan, KS for Rebecca and Blake’s awesome Attraction Session!
Following their session, La Brisa hosted the first ever wedding client social where we invited local former and future La Brisa wedding clients to Colbert Hills for a fun night of hanging out and getting to know each other!
Naturally, many ridiculous images were created such as these...
On Saturday, my day was full of Joy Sessions all around town. I started with the adorable D Family!
Then met up with the gorgeous O Family!
And finished up the evening with the S Family and a phenomenal Kansas sunset!
On Sunday, autumn and I hosted a La Brisa Aspiring Photographer Workshop (APW) where we demonstrate how we shoot and interact with clients for other photographers. We went to Pillsbury Crossing and had an amazing time with our models, Katie and Seth!
After the APW, autumn and I met up with our fellow photographer friends at Aggie Station in Manhattan, KS for some delicious food and beverages!

Char & Ellison | Wedding | Laie, HI | b
I am a conceptual person. I dream up big ideas, with these pretty pictures of the end result dancing in my head. And not just in photography, in everything I do: my weekend plans, new elaborate recipes, birthday parties. However grand my ideas, I find it rare when everything just falls into place. But you know what? Sometimes those pretty pictures in my head end up being even better than I could even imagine. Sometimes I am in awe of what I have created.
These are some of those pictures.
I wanted to tell a love story. A beachy one. A gut punching, ooey-gooey, sun soaked and heart centered love story.
I wanted to prove that even though I am new in Hawaii, I can leave my mark on this beautiful island in a profound way. So I went in search of a couple to photograph.
What I didn’t expect was photographing a couple who wanted this just as badly as I did.
Char and Ellison have been married a year. (Happy Anniversary BTW!!) One WHOLE year and do you know how many wedding photographs they have to look back on and relive that day??? ZERO. Absolutely none. Do you know why? Because they couldn’t live without each other. Char and Ellison were friends first, developing a great chemistry and relationship then Ellison joined the Marines. I have many friends with similar stories, either one or both of them are in the service and time and distance become too much to bear. While back to visit in California, Ellison proposed on their pier Oceanside Pier, and promised to spend his life with Char. In order to be together they did what many military couples do and rushed to the courthouse to make it official, all before Char’s afternoon shift at work that day, all without friends and family and all without a single photo.
They wanted a beach wedding. They wanted the celebration. They wanted the dress and friends and family to celebrate. They wanted photos of them on their wedding day.
I am happy I could help with one of those concepts and I hope for them that the rest will come with time. They deserve it.

Char:
For me, I love Ellison's scrupulous, patient and responsible personality. I love how I can always depend on him for anything and everything and he never fails to make me smile, especially when I'm in a bad mood. I love how hardworking he is at everything he does. It makes me proud to be his wife.
Ellison:
I love Camila's devoting support in everything I/we go through. She is always cheerful and strives to help with everything she can. She is very outgoing and loves to make the most out of our days once she wakes up. I also love her cooking! She likes to keep my belly happy!

La Brisa APW Monthly Photography Competition #2 Winner!

Today, I am happy to announce the winner of the La Brisa APW Monthly Photography Competition #2 in the La Brisa Aspiring Photographer Workshop (APW) group on Facebook! For March, the theme was "GREEN" and members of the group voted for their favorite submissions.

Photography For a Cause (PFaC) 2013!!!
Photography for a Cause is an event that we started in 2009, where we sell our favorite fine art photographs for the entire month of April and 100% of all profits are donated to local/international non-profit organizations. Since its inception in 2009, we have raised $6,298.14 to donate to incredible causes. One of our goals with La Brisa Photography is to give back and Photography for a Cause has become a unique and awesome opportunity for us to do so. This year, we will be donating to the T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter in Manhattan, KS AND Be The Match. Both of these amazing organizations are dear and personal to autumn, b and myself and we hope you take some time to learn more about what they accomplish with their efforts. Also, 100% of profits from client print orders for the month of April will be donated as well! So if you have been waiting to order prints from your session, NOW is the time!
