Manhattan Christian College Men's Baseball 03.13.09

Lately, I've been working quite a bit with Manhattan Christian College and I have absolutely loved all of the opportunities and access that they've presented me! I played competitive baseball for ten years so it was awesome to shoot a game because I knew what to expect and when and I could better anticipate some of the action on the field. One of the things that I learned is that shooting sports is super difficult! Many props to all sports photographers and I am excited because I have so much to learn! :)

On a chilly day, the MCC Crusaders faced off against the OCC Ambassadors and competed extremely well in spite of the bite in the air! Although the Ambassadors made a late game run, the Crusaders prevailed for the victory! Congrats MCC!!!

A miniature long haired weiner dog puppy = cuteness overload!
I'll let you drool over the photos now...

You can view the rest of the mini (no pun intended) session by going to my clients page: www.labrisaphotography.smugmug.com

Looking forward to seeing Max again soon!!!

La Brisa Aspiring Photographers Workshop!

"How do you know so much about photography?" asked Brisa when I told her that I was organizing a photography workshop. Gotta love spousal support, right? One of my main goals of my photography career is to always find ways to give back whenever I can! I love teaching people things because I really feel that I have the patience and ability to convey and enlighten others. So I asked Lindsay and Matt to model for my workshop and I put together a faux-couple's session to show people how I go about posing and interacting with my clients. You may remember them from Amie & Paul's awesome wedding as Matt is Paul's brother and best man and I was able to take a few fun photobooth-esque shots of this beautiful couple!

We headed to a location where I've never shot before and I was super excited about the opportunity to scout it out!!! Lindsay and Matt were absolutely awesome! Not only are they totally in love, but they are gorgeous and so trusting of whatever I suggested! :) A special thanks to my assistant, Sarah, for taking some rockin behind the scenes shots!

A few of the photographers in action...

Now for a few of our awesome models, Lindsay and Matt!

Ok, so Sarah took some pictures of moi in action and one thing I always do with my clients is show them how I would like them to pose. I never thought about how ridiculous I look until I saw this...

and this is what came next (much much better when Lindsay does it)!

and here is the final product of the pose!

Thanks again to everyone who came to the workshop! Can't wait to see your pictures! For all of your aspiring photographers, feel free to contact me about our next workshop! The more the merrier!

Finally, here are a few more of Lindsay and Matt from our session. Feel free to go to www.labrisaphotography.com and click on "Clients" to see the rest of the session!

Sarah & Nick ~ Love in Manhattan, KS

Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to assist awesome Erica of www.ericamay.com at Sarah and Nick's wedding in Manhattan! Erica has been a great mentor, friend and motivator during the development and success of my businses and so I will be forever grateful to her! You can view her rockin pictures from this wedding here. I gotta admit, it was much much more relaxing being the second photographer and focusing on the little details and candids and I loved the opportunity to open up my creativity and try out new perspectives and angles!

Shot some groom portraits with Nick...

Love the colors of the bouquet and the details of Sarah's dress...

By far, one of my favorite photos of the day!

A little action shot of Erica! :)

One of the cutest flower girls EVER!

Erica's husband and fellow ericamay photography assistant Jeff looking good as always!

How cute are they? Come on!!! Don't you just want to eat them up (not literally, of course)???

Then time for some way fun formals in the bitter cold at K-State. All of the bridesmaids were absolute troopers for dealing with the elements, but Sarah outshined them all and looked absolutely radiant!

Not quite sure what was going on here...

and then some more action shots of Erica!

and I'll leave you with this shot. Probably one of the coolest and smoothest moves that photographers can do: a simultaneous double lens switcheroo!

Thanks again Erica for allowing me to shoot with you! Congrats to Sarah and Nick for an absolutely beautiful wedding and best of luck to you both in your future together! You can view more pictures by going to www.labrisaphotography.com and clicking on "Clients"! :)

MCC Men's Basketball Championship!!!

What an awesome experience! I love sports. Absolutely love them and yet I haven't had too many opportunities to shoot real action sports and so I was stoked to go to the Manhattan Christian College's (MCC) Men's regional basketball championship game! The competition had everything: boisterous student section, referee bashing, highlight reel dunks and above all...MCC winning the championship! Read the full write up of the game here and follow the MCC team as they compete in nationals here!

Now enjoy the photos!

Congratulations to the gentlemen and all of MCC for their accomplishment! You can view all of the photos by going to www.labrisaphotography.com and clicking on "Clients"!
